This is a commission for EDENFABLE but without the little girl, that was my addition and will be removed from the finished version for her.
I had a bit of a whirlwind ride with this image. It was about 75% done within the first 3-4 days and then...it took about a month or so after that. First I lost muse, then my tablet pen, then I used all my energy finding the pen that I was too ill to carry on, then I lost my pen again, and then I got another viral infection, and now, finally, we are here.
The character is named Maeve, and I believe is owned by a friend of EDENFABLE 's and this is a super generous gift from her!
Concept wise, the wolf is the little girls protector. The spirit tries to protect her from all evil, represented by the thorns. For each harmful thing he has protected her from, he received a thorn added to the branches. Her ivy crown represents the connection between them both [think: genes between relations] and the growth of intelligence as she learns new things. Inspired by the film Maleficent.
